Bonhôte proud to incept BONHÔTE (CH) - Swiss Gold Bars ESG, an innovative fund investing in physical gold.
Bonhôte’s physical gold fund is a winning combination of tradition, innovation and SRI, offering enhanced security, transparency, scientific-grade traceability and ESG integration.
Bonhôte today announces the upcoming inception of the BONHÔTE (CH) - Swiss Gold Bars ESG fund, which combines the safety of holding physical gold with an investment ethos guided by transparency and SRI. With more than two centuries of wealth management expertise, Bonhôte is constantly evolving to meet the expectations of today’s investors as it smartly blends tradition and innovation.
The BONHÔTE (CH) - Swiss Gold Bars ESG Fund offers investors the opportunity to invest in physical gold stored in Switzerland, sourced from mines that comply with ESG standards. The fund sidesteps the risks of artisanal mining by investing only in large-scale mining operations that adhere to national regulations with stringent environmental and ethical standards. This includes reducing carbon emissions through the use of renewable energy, optimising waste management and working with local communities.
The fund relies on a close association with Metalor, a leading global refiner and processor of precious metals. Founded in Neuchâtel in 1852, Metalor applies the highest standards of due diligence and conducts itself responsibly at every stage of the supply chain. In its partnership with Bonhôte, the gold ingots invested in by the fund are produced on a fully segregated production line, reserved exclusively within traceable batches from selected mines. Investments are screened using the geoforensic passport, a technology developed by Metalor in partnership with the University of Lausanne, co-financed by Innosuisse. This scientific-grade process uses chemical analysis to identify the exact geographical provenance of the gold.
The fund is a winning combination of key elements which together deliver a differentiated investment solution:
- Full transparency: supply chain stakeholders are painstakingly selected using stringent standards. Each gold ingot comes from a single specific mine (Single Mine Origin), guaranteeing enhanced transparency on the origin of the precious metal.
- Scientific-grade traceability: the exact geographical origin of the gold is verified by analysing its chemical composition.
- Enhanced security: physical gold is kept segregated in the highly secure facilities of SIX Vault in Switzerland, ensuring optimum investment protection.
- Responsible practices: partner mines are selected on the strength of their commitment to responsible mining and for incorporating ESG criteria fully into their business strategies. The portfolio ESG assessment is conducted by Conser ESG verifier SA, a Swiss sustainable investing consultancy.
This model, which combines transparency, scientific traceability, security and ESG integration, meets the expectations of today’s investors seeking reliable solutions that adhere to responsible investment standards.
“The inception of the BONHÔTE (CH) - Swiss Gold Bars ESG fund is a tangible response to the growing demand for investments that combine security, transparency and ESG criteria,” says Julien Stähli, Chief Investment Officer (CIO).“Current geopolitical uncertainties and the underlying trend away from the dollar are underpinning the rise in the price of gold. In this context, this new fund offers an investment solution aligned to the market outlook and our own values.”
Banque Bonhôte & Cie SA, founded in 1815, is pleased to announce this development of its services. In addition to its head office in Neuchâtel, its historic home, the branch network spans Biel/Bienne, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, Solothurn and Zurich.
